Product Protection and Care

Washing Guidelines
Most products come with wash tags/labels providing instructions on how to clean your items. However, for vintage items, we recommend disregarding these guidelines in favor of a more cautious approach, as product care requirements can change as an item ages.
We suggest washing only when absolutely necessary to minimize the number of wash cycles the item goes through.

When washing, we recommend a quick wash at no more than 30 degrees Celsius and advise that items be turned inside out. For delicate items, hand washing is strongly recommended.

Please note that we advise against using any kind of fabric softener and recommend only mild detergents, as stronger products may affect prints, patches, and sponsor logos. Do not tumble dry items, and always wash with similar colors.

Thefootballidiots cannot be held responsible for any damage caused by washing if these guidelines are not followed.

Hand-Washing Football Shirts
To hand-wash football shirts, follow these steps:

  1. Turn the shirt inside out.
  2. Fill a sink, bowl, or bath with warm water and a color-safe detergent.
  3. Let the shirt soak for 10-15 minutes.
  4. Gently agitate the shirt to loosen dirt and grime.
  5. Rinse thoroughly with cold or lukewarm water.
  6. Hang the shirt to air dry naturally, avoiding direct heat or the use of a tumble dryer.

Storage
We recommend always hanging items on hangers. If they must be folded for storage, try to avoid bending sponsor logos and name sets, as this can cause them to crack or peel over time.

Ensure shirts are kept in a cool, dry location, away from direct sunlight. Garment bags (also known as dust bags or laundry bags) can be used, though they are not essential.

Repairs
We do not currently offer our own repair service, but we are happy to attempt very minor repairs on behalf of customers. For more complex repairs, such as sewing, we advise taking the item to a professional tailor if it’s not easily fixed by yourself.
