Adidas Argentina Home 1991 Maradona 10 - 7/10

The albiceleste stripes, the adidas trefoil era, and the most loaded number 10 in football. This is an adidas Argentina home shirt from 1991 with a Maradona nameset — a serious collector's piece, and one with a genuinely interesting backstory, because 1991 is the year Diego was not there.

History

In March 1991 Maradona failed a drug test at Napoli and was handed a fifteen-month suspension that FIFA enforced worldwide, ruling him out of that summer's Copa América. Argentina went to Chile without him and won it anyway, with Gabriel Batistuta finishing as top scorer and Oscar Ruggeri wearing the captain's armband through Diego's long absence. He would not return to the national side until October 1993. That history is what makes a 1991 Argentina shirt with a Maradona 10 a tribute print rather than a squad print — and, for many collectors, a more interesting object because of it.

FAQ

Is this an original adidas shirt?
Yes — an original adidas Argentina home shirt from the 1991 era, not a modern remake.

Did Maradona play for Argentina in 1991?
No. He was serving a fifteen-month ban and missed the 1991 Copa América, which Argentina won without him. The nameset is a tribute rather than a squad print.

What condition is it in?
Rated 7/10 — very good for a shirt over thirty years old. See the photos closely.

Do you ship outside Norway?
Yes, we ship across Norway and worldwide.
